Many of the faces seen at our school play an important role in the Big Red Band.  The success of the band doesn't depend on the individual faces but can only suceed with everyone working together.  Two weeks before school started the vand practiced every afternoon on their show.  The results of their hard work came during the 1981 season when they marched their way to Austin for the State U.I.L marching contest.  At Austin they recieved a division III rating.
In the spring the band traveled to Fort Stockton for concert and sightreading contest.  They recieved a division II rating in both of the these.  As of the end of the year, the band planned to expand and add 8 flags and 4 rifles to make the band sharper.
