It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my baby...
is on the USS Boxer in the U. S. Navy.
It is hard for me to believe he grew so big and tall...
Seems like only yesterday, he was learning to crawl.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my world...
is waiting to sacrifice the ultimate, given one person's word.
It is hard for me to believe, he will be gone so long...
Seems like only yesterday, he was learning a new song.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my joy...
Grew into a proud and caring man, from just a little boy.
It is hard for me to believe, my son has gone to fight...
Seems like only yesterday, I was kissing his cheek goodnight.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my love...
can see the same moon and stars, as I can see above.
It is hard for me to believe, he is so far away...
Seems like only yesterday, he told me he would always stay.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, a U. S. Sailor...
Proudly wears his blues, all starched and tailored.
It is hard for me to believe, my son in all his pride...
Seems like only yesterday he sat in my lap and cried.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my son...
may sacrifice the ultimate, before his job is done.
It is hard for me to believe, my son is a grown man...
Seems like only yesterday, his tiny hand was in my hand.
It is hard for
me to believe, my little boy, my child...
is a U.S. Sailor, and still so meek and mild.
It is hard for me to believe, my son is six foot two...
Seems like only yesterday, he was a child saying "I love you".
